Wonderful cross-country skiing in Kitzbühel means winter fun in the sun surrounded by picturesque landscapes. More than 500 km of perfectly groomed nordic tracks for classic cross-country skiers and skaters await you. The floodlit nordic track with snow-making facilities at the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith Golf Course and a high-altitude track on top of Kitzbüheler Horn round out the cross-country skiing facilities.

Cross-Country Skiing Trails

In the areas in and around Kitzbühel, Wilder Kaiser, Brixental and Thurn pass, a total of 500 km ready-to-use immaculate nordic trails await you. Most of the trails are suitable for all levels and abilities, and don’t have significant elevation changes nor difficult downhill sections. Take a leisurely break at one of the many charming inns located along the way. Both classic-style cross-country skiers and skaters will be able to enjoy a large number of scenic routes in Kitzbühel and its surrounding areas.
 

Floodlit Sports Track with Snow-Making System

The floodlit cross-country skiing tracks Kitzbüheler Loipen are located next to Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith Golf Club (plenty of parking available). The tracks, including the most famous one, the Kitzbühel Nordic Sports Track, are equipped with snow-making devices. Cross-country ski aficionados from many different countries come here to improve their skills and training techniques. In addition, professional cross-country skiers, such as David Kreiner and Benjamin Kreiner (members of Austria's Nordic Combined National Team) train here. The Golf Club offers a 7 km-loop as well as several shorter and varied tracks. From dusk until 11:00 p.m., you can enjoy floodlit nordic skiing on the 2.5 km Sports Track. These 2.5 km are managed by the Kitzbühel Ski Club (K.S.C.), and are equipped with modern snow-making devices. Hence, you can always count on snow.

Two High-Altitude Cross-Country Skiing Tracks with Snow Guarantee

The ultimate high-altitude track at Kitzbüheler Horn (1,600 m above sea level) is brand-new this winter. With a snow guarantee from December through April, this track is sure to become yet another Kitzbühel favourite. This unique nordic track is easily accessible by taking the Hornbahn gondola (sections I and II) to Alpenhaus. From there, you’ll take the Alpenhaus lift to Trattalmmulde. Additional information is available from Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel. The cost is EUR 16.20 (includes both uphill and downhill ride with the Hornbahn gondola and Alpenhaus lift (B6).)

The wonderful high-altitude track at Thurn pass (1,274 m above sea level) also features the ultimate snow guarantee. Classic and skating routes are perfectly groomed from December through April, and floodlit until 9:00 p.m. The high-altitude nordic track at Thurn pass is easily accessible by car or skibus shuttle.

Snow Guarantee on the Nordic Trail in Aschau Near Kirchberg

A scenic cross-country skiing route with snow guarantee can be found in Aschau near Kirchberg (1,020 m above sea level). This trail is typically available for both classic-style nordic skiers and skaters from December through April. Parking is available in front of the Café Hochland.

All Cross-Country Trails Free of Charge

The entire network of nordic trails in and around Kitzbühel are available for your enjoyment free of charge. A lift ticket must be purchased to get to the high-altitude track at Kitzbüheler Horn.
