Kitzbühel Ski Area Information
Thanks to its snow guarantee, Kitzbühel ski area undoubtedly ranks among the most popular ski resorts in the world. In addition to the most world’s difficult downhill ski run – the famous Streif – the Kitzbühel Alps offer gently rolling grass hills ideal for unlimited ski and carving pleasures on 170 km of perfectly groomed slopes and 33 km of exciting ski routes. Quaint mountain huts await you for leisurely breaks. True outdoor experts will appreciate the varied off-piste terrain and the wide range of ski mountaineering routes in the easily accessible back country.
Kitzbühel by the Numbers
The Kitzbühel Slope Map boasts 60 groomed ski runs for all ability levels, with a total slope length of 170 km. Of these, 67 km are easy (blue), 79 km are intermediate (red) and 24 km are difficult (black). In addition, expert winter sport fans can choose from 55 km of marked ski routes which are marked and monitored but not groomed. Thus, these ski routes offer mostly deep powder and mogul runs. Just like regular ski runs, they are avalanche-safe. The area's 55 mountain lifts and gondolas can transport more than 90,000 outdoor enthusiasts per hour to the top of the peaks. The ski area reaches up to 2,000 m above sea level and includes seven villages and two Austrian states.Winter in Kitzbühel - Ski Area

Deep Snow, Ski Mountaineering Routes, Snowboard & Freestyle
In addition to the many outstanding ski runs, powder skiing enthusiasts also have countless options in the easily accessible Kitzbühel back country. The scenic Kitzbüheler Horn is one of the secret favourites for lovers of high-alpine skiing with lots of variety. In addition, the entire area boasts excellent ski mountaineering routes. The certified mountain guides and ski instructors of the Kitzbühel Ski Schools can take you to the region's most scenic summits and most pristine powder snow slopes. Lift-assisted ski mountaineering make your adventure more efficient and allow you to easily reach largely untouched mountain peaks, unique runs and secluded valleys by merely gaining a few hundred metres in altitude.Kitzbühel is also an ideal location for newschool skiers and snowboarders. In addition to the previously mentioned powder skiing, you can take full advantage of two outstanding Snow Parks suitable for both beginners and experts and everyone in between. The snow parks feature a great variety of kickers, rails and obstacles. The impressive Hanglalm Park ("Kitzbühel South") is particularly popular for photo and video shoots and video featuring internationally renowned stars. Those who would rather watch than venture down the course themselves can stop by the snow parks and see how top athletes seem to defy gravity with their jumps.
Snow Guarantee
In the Kitzbühel mountains, winters are quite long with a high level of precipitation due to the massive cloud banks that accumulate north of the Alps. These masses of humid air originate in the North Sea and supply the Kitzbühel area with heavy snowfalls and plenty of fresh snow throughout the winter months. The inneralpine and slightly continental climate results in considerably lower temperatures than in the French or Swiss Alps.Kitzbühel was the first ski area in Tyrol to open for the 2009/2010 winter season. The lifts have been operating since 24 October, further solidifying Kitzbühel’s reputation as a sure bet for a snow guarantee.
