Snow Guarantee
In the Kitzbühel mountains, winters are quite long with a high level of precipitation due to the massive cloud banks that accumulate north of the Alps. These masses of humid air originate in the North Sea and supply the Kitzbühel area with heavy snowfalls and plenty of fresh snow throughout the winter months. The inneralpine and slightly continental climate results in considerably lower temperatures than in the French or Swiss Alps.Kitzbühel was the first ski area in Tyrol to open for the 2009/2010 winter season. The lifts have operated since 24 October. Also this year Kitzbühel is the first ski area in the Tyrol, starting on October 30th, further solidifying Kitzbühel’s reputation as a sure bet for a snow guarantee.
