Snowboarding & Freeskiing in Kitzbühel
Impressive mountain ranges, incredible terrain, easily accessible back country areas and two outstanding snow parks built by QParks: one at the scenic Kitzbüheler Horn, the other in the Thurn pass area.
For many years, the Kitzbüheler Horn has been an absolute must among passionate snowboarders and freeskiers because of its fantastic areas for freeriding and shredding. From easy powder runs to challenging terrain, big mountain riding with grooves, huge cornices and steep drops, the Kitzbüheler Horn offers something for everyone.
Kitzbühel is renowned for its extensive and relatively easily accessible back country terrain. Many wonderful lines can be effortlessly reached with minimal to no hiking. At Hahnenkamm, passionate freeriders will find truly breathtaking slopes amid unspoilt nature, far away from crowded, groomed ski runs. This is the place to show off what you’ve got. Ramps can be placed in the middle of nowhere, and the Kasereck chair lift area features plenty of easy off-slope routes as well as some exciting cliff drops. As if all this weren’t enough, there are the areas of Jochberg and Thurn pass. The area surrounding the "2000" ski lift in Jochberg features fine tree runs, incredible shoots and many other highlights. The newly completed snow park, which is located close to the Hanglalm lift (in the Thurn pass ski area,) is also worth a visit.
Even more varied terrain awaits you at Bichlalm, where a small snow-grooming machine transports you to an altitude of approximately 1,500 metres. This is the perfect starting point for cruising on a variety of different runs.
Snowboard professional and master shaper Bernd Mandelberger himself shares an insider’s recommendation: don’t miss the Raintal lift at the Kitzbüheler Horn. You can reach a variety of outstanding powders slopes including a few really awesome cliff drops without much effort.
