Kitz Summer Nights 2012

In the last few decades Kitzbühel has become a major setting for international events. It is the large sporting events in particular which fill tens of thousands of spectators at the venue, and millions worldwide in front of their TV screens, with enthusiasm.

These are however only the tip of the Kitzbühel event iceberg. In summer time especially, Kitzbühel and its villages Reith, Aurach and Jochberg offers their guests an abundance of events which are rich in diversity, every week. One key component of the summer event calendar are the Kitz Summer Nights. Live music, entertainment, an ‘art mile’ with pictures and paintings by local artists, as well as an educationally valuable children’s programme of events. All this awaits visitors on Thursdays in a mild summer atmosphere.

Every Thursday in July and August Kitz Summer Nights provide that summer evening feeling. From 8.00 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. concerts by Austria’s best groups from the traditional music scene provide a really good atmosphere. They bring audiences closer to the gritty side of our culture, and the superb architecture of the city centre offers the perfect backdrop for this. The stage locations change weekly, which means that Kitz Summer Nights make their way through Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach and Jochberg throughout the summer.

At Kitz Summer Nights it isn’t just the ears, but also the eyes of the meandering guests which are indulged. The ‘artists’ mile’ by 'Kitzbüheler Künstlergilde’ club exhibits works by Kitzbühel artists when the weather is good. Michaela Kisch and her team are there for all the children. Personal supervision, along with exercises and games for the kids which are educational and great for motor functions, await. This is offered in a quite deliberate contrast to the highly engineered children’s’ Disney lands.
