Dry and bright with plenty of sunshine, clouds will be rare
Dry and fair in the early morning, then variable with frequent showers.
In the last few years, Kitzbuehels Alex Naglich has climbed up the highest mountains and been the first one to ski some of most extreme downhill routes. He was at the foot of Nuptse in the Himalaya, he skied from the highest mountain in Europe, the Elbrus, in the south of Russia and he travelled for years through South America and in the East left his spur on Damavand in Iran.
Axel Naglich loves the challenge: three wins at the 24- hour-race in Aspen, 11 years experience as a forerunner on the Streif at the Hahnenkamm-Race and the first man to ski the longest downhill in the world at Mount St. Elias in Alaska are just a few milestones in his career.
He has studied architecture and says he would not live anywhere else other than Kitzbuehel.
It is not by chance I chose to live in Kitzbuehel, said Axel. Kitzbuehel ist brilliant! For work and private, Kitzbuehel has the environment I need in a small radius, I can do everything I like, Skiing, Mountaineering, Climbing, Flying, Cycling, Swimming and Running. I can plan new projects in my occupation as an architect. It is never boring in the Kitzbuehel Alps, the surroundings are fantastic and on the Hahnenkamm the 44 years old can recommend at least 12 different downhill runs. Live is good, he sums up his positive sense of life. Everything I do, I love to do especially in Kitzbuehel.
Axel Naglich about the Kitzbuehel Ski Area:Large and excellent – being from Kitzbuehel I can say that. In Kitz you can try all varieties of skiing, as well if the weather is awful, we have trees! And we have the Streif, a downhill run which has everything – this is not a artificial downhill, this is natural world. At the end of January, after the Hahnenkamm race, the Streif is spectacular, because it is mostly very icy, often glasslike. What you need then is edges on your skies and prowess. Both is not enough – you need courage and be half nuts.
