28th Weisenbläser- und JuchezertreffenAug 17, 2013 :: Weisenbläser and Juchezen belong in Kitzbuehel on a year-long tradition. Both musical styles stem from a culture dominated by the mountain dwellers. The "Mitterhögler Weisenbläser" continue this tradition with passion and invite you to their annual "Weisenbläser and Juchezertreffen" on 19 August, when many musicians from near and far can be heard playing on the Kitzbuehel Horn. On the 18 August, the eve of Weisenbläser and Juchezertreffens, the charming centre of Kitzbuehel is a meeting place for many musicians. Several venues are in the city centre and bands rotate around the streets putting their stamp on the evening, which folk music fans say is one of the finest of its kind.
The highlight of the Weisenbläser and Juchezertreffens the mountain mass is on Sunday. More than 50 musicians sound their beautiful melodies. The event begins at 12:00 clock on the Ranggelplatz which is reached with the Horngipfelbahn or from Alpenhaus after a short walk (about 25 minutes).
Within the alpine folk music the Weisenbläser playing is a special art. Connoisseurs and experts mean by "Weisenbläser" are musicians who playing melodic tones with brass instruments. Even the Juchezen, Almrufe or "Oimschroa" (forms of yodelling and mountain calling) make it a music based on an alternative art.
It is sung as a request to bless the mountain meadows, "Almsegen" which, thanks to Andreas Feller and his "Mitterhöglern", has for many years put significant emphasis in the Tyrolean folk music and ensure the realization of this traditional event.
