Jun 1, 2014 :: The Tristkogel Challenge is one of the most legendary Kitzbuehel sporting events. In June 2014 it is a combination of mountain biking, hiking and orienteering. The Alpine experience, stamina and a good sense of orientation is demanded of the Tristkogel participants to overcome the 2,000 m high mountain on bike and foot.

The spectacular mass get together is in the centre of Kitzbuehel this year on Friday evening at 19.00 hr. Cheered on by many spectators, commentator Stefan Steinacher and OC President George Überall introduces the athletes to the contest and the orientation hurdles to be overcome. Live music and a party atmosphere will end the evening before the Challenge.

For a maximum of 50 teams of two (please login in plenty of time: www.tristkogel-challenge.at) starts on Saturday with the real thing. In the well known from the Nordic Combined "Gundersen method" which teams start with the time intervals. The starting times are given out on the night before and begins from the centre of Kitzbuehel towards changing zone Oberkaseralm.

So the challenge is with bikes and on foot, with Alpine equipment, to attack the 2000 meters of the Kitzbuehel mountains. The exact route is top secret and will be announced just before the start. The route will be using the track in area of the Südkette around Tristkogel (2,095 m) with the aim to Oberkaseralm (1,750 m).

All checkpoints must be passed by two athletes of the team together. The two man teams in the categories "male", "female" and "mixed" can register. The mountain rescue is on hand for the safety athletes. The net proceeds of Tristkogel Challenge goes to needy families in the region. The social highlight of the event is the traditional "After- Challenge Party" on Saturday evening in the center of Kitzbuehel.
