Triassic Park Steinplatte Waidring
Back to the Beginning?
But of course! 250 million years ago the surrounding Tyrolean mountains were under water and today stands the stony peaks with traces of fossils of marine animals. No, not a gigantic burst water pipe was to blame! All summit peaks were awash from the mighty Tethys ancient sea where many different animals lived that we can hardly imagine today.
Here you are on the track of prehistoric animals.
Meanwhile, all the water has dried up. However, tucked among the rocks and hills of the slab is still plenty of traces of marine animals. Come and see what fossils you can discover.
TRIASSIC begins at the foot of the Steinplatte (the stone slab.)
The gondola station gets you in the mood of the ancient ocean Tethys: Special underwater gondolas will carr you and your family up the mountain.
Get in and imagine!
In Triassic Park you will find the Triassic Center, Triassic Beach and Triassic Trail with lots of tips and info on dinosaurs and other animals. Have an adventurous trip on the stone slab and a refreshing splash. There is also a viewing platform high up on the cliff face.
The entrance to the park is free
