The base of the lake consists of peat soil and this helps it warm up quickly in spring developing beneficial health effects. It is also possible to swim at the moor pool at the Gieringer Weiher, the Badwelt Aquarena, Kitzbuehel’s indoor swimming pool and the forest swimming pool in Jochberg.
The Schwarzsee (the Black Lake), which lies between Kitzbuehel and Reith is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Alps. Other highlights and activities at the Schwarzsee are the electric propelled boats, with which you can sail across the lake, the beach volleyball courts and the children’s water slides. If you fancy a spot of relaxation you can pamper yourself and lie on the sun terraces of the Seebistro whilst enjoying snacks and coffee.
