The Kitzbuehel water worlds offer many recreational opportunities. Schwarzsee between Kitzbuehel and Reith is one of the most beautiful bathing lakes in the Alps. Through the peat content it can warm up quickly in spring and develops healthy beneficial effects. Swimming possibilities are also the moor pool Gieringer Weiher, the Kitzbuehel covered swimming pool- the Badewelt Aquarena and the forest swimming pool in Jochberg.

The Schwarzsee (the Black Lake), which lies between Kitzbuehel and Reith is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Alps and has some lovely walks. You can then jump into the cool, healthy marsh water and enjoy some sunshine surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Other highlights at the Schwarzsee, for example, are the electric propelled boats, with which you can sail across the lake or pamper yourself and layout on the sun terraces of Seebistro with snacks and coffee.

Dextro Energy ITU Triathlon World Championship Series

The absolute highlight at the Schwarzsee is the annual Triathlon World Cup, where the top athletes such as Olympic champion Kate Allen uses the lake as a venue. Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in Kitzbuehel in July 2007, was first held in a Triathlon World Cup race in Austria. Ever since, the sport has added to the city’s activities.

Kitzbuehel has been included in the select group of the world only 16 Triathlon World Cup host cities. Exciting competitions are guaranteed when the world's elite come to the Schwarzsee!
