After the successful design of the running and Nordic walking trails in Kitzbuehel, we are continuing to invest in improving the standards for runners and walkers.
This endurance sport of Nordic Walking consists of walking using two sticks with rhythmical steps. In Kitzbuehel there are almost unlimited possibilities for Nordic Walking. The 170 kilometres of signposted Nordic walking and jogging trails and more than 1,000 kilometres of hiking trails, are well suited for walking or running.
The sport of Nordic Walking is fast walking with modified ski poles and has taken off in recent years. The use of poles turns "normal" walking into a workout, as the muscles of the upper body are used. This gentle aerobic sport is an excellent fat burner, is easy on the joints and contributes to muscle workouts.
The sports city of Kitzbuehel has recognised the benefits of this form of exercise and has rapidly incorporated, "Nordic walking", into its program. There is now an infrastructure of 23 running and Nordic walking trails incorporated within, "Kitz Running", and over 1,000 kilometres of hiking trails.
