Travel with a steam train
For over a hundred years the Pinzgaubahn connects the Salzach Valley between Zell am See and Krimml on a rail width of only 760mm. Today, it is the only narrow-gauge, steam driven train railway with speeds of up to 70 km/h. In the summer months also, for a small charge, you can take nostalgic trip every Thursday travel in a special ‘Dampfsonderzug’ (steam driven train). The idyllic track leads from Zell am See along the Tauernradwegs in the Hohe Tauern National Park to the Mittersill and return.
The Steam Train 399.01 was built in 1906 and is almost as old as the track itself.
