Tour Details
Description

In 1924, a commission was tasked with developing a cable car project for the Hahnenkamm. Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel was founded in 1928. One year later, the opening of the first Hahnenkammbahn was celebrated. This was a reversible aerial tramway with 2 cabins for 18 people and featured 9 support towers.

In 1938, the lift was completely rebuilt by the company Adolf Bleichert & Co. Following this, there were two gondolas for 48 people each, which ran over only 3 towers. The capacity was 320 people/h. In 1958, technical measures increased the capacity to 500 people/h, while the cabins remained the same.

In 1996, another complete reconstruction took place, in which only the station buildings remained. The reversible tramway was replaced by a modern monocable gondola lift with 6-person cabins. In 2011, seat heating was installed. At the valley station, one of the old gondolas was hung up as a museum piece.
