Günther Klimkeit - his 20th Kitzbühel trip

On the occasion of his 20th trip to Kitzbühel, Günther Klimkeit from Styria wrote us a few lines about his attachment to the Gamsstadt and why he has always enjoyed going to Kitzbühel for many, many years. We are happy about such loyal friends and thank you for the kind words.

"It all started in Japan in 1993 in Morioka where the Alpine World Ski Championships were held. I, Günther Klimkeit, was working as a sports reporter at the time and met Olympic champion Ernst Hinterseer from Kitzbühel. We both became friends and since that time I have been organizing regular trips to Kitzbühel. Not only for me and my family, in the meantime I have turned many friends and acquaintances into "Kitzbühel fans"".

We always stay at the Alpenhotel on Schwarzsee, hike and play music with Ernst Hinterseer, and party at Rosi's Sonnbergstuben and Maria's "Tiafinga". Many people from Kitzbühel have become real friends - and we look forward to the next visits of our Styrian friends in the Gamsstadt!

The numbers don't lie: Rising trend in tourism, enormous rate of increase of the mountain railroads! All the superlatives that are now said about Kitzbühel are an understatement. The town is not for nothing the center of attraction of "the beautiful and the rich", the Hahnenkamm race is not for nothing the biggest World Cup spectacle of alpine skiing.

As one who travels 20 times with 50 friends for a week's vacation, who was allowed to report 19 times at the Hahnenkamm races sports journalistically "from the Streif", who celebrated Christmas five times with the family in "Kitz", who admittedly did not dive into the Weißwurstkessel at the Stanglwirt - because not belonging to the jet set -, but often manages this in the Schwarzsee, can not avoid the conclusion that despite all the highlights, it is the people who live in this city, this unique flair in summer and winter virtually "conjure up".

People who do not let themselves be bent despite tourism. People who live mainly from tourism, give a lot for it, but do not let themselves be bent, but maintain the natural beauty and tradition despite the "modern influences", even cherish it.

Friends for life: "Being there in Kitzbühel" - Perhaps the people of Brixental are sometimes a bit monosyllabic, a bit stubborn - they talk less, but say all the more! But it is precisely with these qualities that they generate likeable self-confidence, which makes life, being there in Kitzbühel so worth living, a magnet for me time and again."

Written by Günther Klimkeit from Styria on the occasion of the 20th Kitzbühel trip from 12-20.06.2015.
