Kitzbühel Gourmet Hiking WeekSep 13, 2019 :: An enjoyable week of hiking and good food in Kitzbühel. This glorious autumn, the Kitzbühel Gourmet Hiking Week is offering the ideal combination of events for enthusiasts.
The Kitzbühel Gourmet Hiking Week is all about guided themed hikes for the whole family, from food lovers to exercise fans, full of musical entertainment, delicious culinary experiences and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The events cover the entire region, from the KITZ Culinary Festival, the mouthwatering highlight of the week in the centre of Kitzbühel, and gentle hikes along the contours of the alpine pastures on the Kitzbüheler Horn through to themed hikes in holiday villages with lakes, farms and traditional customs and finally the chance to experience the Hahnenkamm legend in summer.
PRELUDE | 12/09/2019
The prelude to the Gourmet Hiking Week takes place on Thursday 12 September with the presentation of awards to the new hiking hosts and the certification of the region with the European Hiking Quality Seal. The opening celebrations for the two hiking information points in Reith and Aurach are the festive climax to an innovative joint project which aims to put hiking on the map and stress the importance of hiking throughout the whole region.
KITZ CULINARY FESTIVAL | 13 – 14/09/2019
The events of the Gourmet Hiking Week begin with the KITZ Culinary Festival. From Friday 13 September (3.00 pm – 10.00 pm) through to Saturday 14 September (11.00 am – 10.00 pm), the festival offers a regional delicacy to suit every taste! The delicious taste experiences at the food venues and the exciting festival atmosphere will make this an event to remember. Regional producers, local restaurateurs and virtuoso chefs will be presenting their interpretations of the themes as signature dishes. Naturally, a well-sorted selection of drinks will also be on offer, with everything from delicious juices to the chance to take part in wine and craft beer tastings.
KITZBÜHELER HORN | 15 – 16/09/2019
What better way to combine eating and hiking than with a beautiful walk through the alpine pastures that are characteristic of the region? On Sunday 15 September, the destination is the striking Kitzbüheler Horn, where the trail leads you from one mountain inn to another to the accompaniment of music. The perfect combination of exercise, music and hearty traditional dishes. On Monday 16 September, the breathtaking signature trail takes you from Alpenhaus to Bichlalm.
JOCHBERG | 17/09/2019
On Tuesday, we go to Jochberg where the theme of the day is water. This moderate signature trail leading to the Sintersbach waterfall is a much-loved and timeless circuit. The visit to the mine where the source of Grander water can be found is the perfect way to round off the theme of power and energy. The village circuit in the late morning includes visits to the Antlass fountain and the swimming pool in the woods, plus a stroll along the Jochberger Ache river. The highlights of the trail are the stops along the way and, best of all, the fascinating historical experience at the farming museum.
REITH | 18/09/2019
Reith is a farming village and the local farms are opening their gates for the Gourmet Hiking Week. During the tour of the villages around Reith you will have the chance to meet local farmers and experience their traditional properties. Nature lovers can also enjoy the trails through the gently rolling landscape of the Bichlach area. The Bichlach signature trail takes you past three beautiful ponds near Wiesenweg. This is the perfect place to recharge your batteries.
AURACH | 19/09/2019
The Erbhof farms are a well-known feature of the holiday village of Aurach. This trail is an introduction to the rich history and traditional customs of the Aurach area. From the wildlife park to the Hallerwirt inn, the home of traditional cooking, and on to the nine-peak experience of the so called Gamsroas, Aurach has plenty for you to enjoy.
HAHNENKAMM | 20 – 21/9/2019
From the holiday villages we return to Kitzbühel. The climax of this year’s Gourmet Hiking Week is the world-famous Hahnenkamm mountain. The newly opened highlight of the area is the Streif summer experience. With nine activity stations and opportunities for geocaching, it has enjoyable activities for adults and children alike. The breathtaking views and refreshing mountain lakes of Kitzbühel’s local mountain make it the perfect family hiking venue. And for the younger summiteers, a little surprise is waiting.
