Crowning finale at the Kitzbühel Classic

The Volksoper Vienna supports talented emerging artists by accompanying six international singers and a pianist for two years. Through coaching, masterclasses, and stage performances, they are prepared for the challenges of an artist's life. The Opera Studio provides these young talents with their first steps on stage. The first generation of the studio has already proven themselves internationally and will now celebrate their crowning conclusion at Kitzbühel Klassik.

Among them are Kamila Dutkowska and Jaye Simmons, both presenting the soprano, as well as Aaron-Casey Gould and Stanislaw Napierala, showcasing their tenor. Pablo Santa Cruz will be heard with his bass-baritone, while Karo van der Sanden will shine on the piano.

Elīna Garanča is passionate about nurturing young singers. On Saturday, July 6th, starting at 8:30 p.m., the Kammersängerin Elīna Garanča will perform at "Klassik in den Alpen" in Kitzbühel, captivating the audience alongside Serena Sáenz and Iván Ayón Rivas. The Spanish soprano Serena Sáenz enchanted audiences at the 66th Vienna Opera Ball 2024 together with Elīna Garanča, both live and on television. Iván Ayón Rivas impresses with numerous awards and international performances that showcase his unique talent.

Garanča appreciates performing with talented young singers, whether they are emerging or established, and together enchanting the audience. This year, they promise to create magical, goosebump-inducing moments. The artists will once again be accompanied by the Volksoper Orchestra Vienna.

The influence of Giacomo Puccini, the Italian master of melody and emotion, on the opera world is unmistakable. His works have profoundly shaped the genre and continue to captivate audiences worldwide. In commemoration of his 100th death anniversary, he is being given a special presence in this year's opera program.

Additionally, the 100th birthday of Maria Callas is also being celebrated retrospectively. As one of the most significant sopranos of the 20th century, she has profoundly influenced the opera world with her extraordinary voice and stage presence.
These two outstanding figures in opera history are being properly honored within the program through performances of their works.

Maria Callas was particularly renowned for her interpretations of Giacomo Puccini's operas, and therefore, both icons are being honored with a very special premiere: Elīna Garanča will perform for the first time the moving aria "O ma lyre immortelle" from Gounod's opera "Sapho" in the impressive setting of Kitzbühel.
