Opera star Elina Garanča captivates Kitzbühel
Surrounded by Kitzbühel’s stunning mountain scenery, just a stone’s throw away from the end of the world-famous “Streif” downhill ski race course, the opera star Elina Garanča fills the town of Kitzbühel with beautiful melodies at the “Klassik in den Alpen” classical music concert. The Latvian mezzo-soprano has been performing concerts with her husband, the conductor Karel Mark Chichon, against the backdrop of Kitzbühel’s picturesque landscape since 2013.
Dear classical music friends,
despite all previous hopes that ‘Klassik in den Alpen’ will take place on 4 July 2020 in Kitzbühel, we have to cancel the concert with a heavy heart.
All details about the cancellation of the concert and how to proceed can be found here.
Regular attendees of “Klassik in den Alpen” have been captivated by the concert’s special charm and flair for many years, with a beautifully illuminated open-air stage located between the Hahnenkamm and Kitzbüheler Horn mountains providing the perfect venue. This top location sets the stage for a programme featuring a mix of classic operatic arias and well-known international songs that are sure to impress both opera enthusiasts and those new to the genre.
Joint performances with young and upcoming talents in the operatic world have been an integral feature of Elina Garanča and Karel Mark Chichon’s appearances at “Klassik in den Alpen” for many years and the pair was most recently joined on stage by Nadine Sierra, Dmytro Popov and Alexander Grassauer.
The musical accompaniment to the concert is provided by the Symphony Orchestra of the Volksoper Vienna opera house.
