Tiroler Nussöl World Triathlon KitzbühelJul 5, 2013 :: July 5th-7th, 2013: The Kitzbuehel round of the ITU World Triathlon Series for 2013 takes place between July 5th – 7th and aims to make history with a spectacular route, creating a new chapter in Triathlon World Cup history. This year, the Kitzbueheler Horn, the mountain with the steepest road in Austria, lies in waiting. For the first time, a World Cup triathlon will be decided by a mountain top finish.

Kitzbuehel has developed from the pioneering days of the 1980s to be able to stage a vibrant triathlon. Numerous local athletes discovered the sport for themselves and participated in national and international competitions. From 1987 to 1997 Kitzbuehel Triathlon Association were the organizers of several triathlons. In these years, the later Olympic champion Kate Allen Olympiasiegerin Kate Allen began in Kitzbuehel which launched her international career. After the historic triumph of Kate Allen in 2004 the club moved to reorganize, after a long break, for a triathlon in Kitzbuehel. A "Premium European Triathlon Cup" was held in 2006 as the comeback competition in picturesque area of Schwarzsee. Followed by World Cup competitions, and finally in 2009 implementation of the ITU World Triathlon Series
