Where Tyrolean tradition is everywhere

Locals and guests alike appreciate the village character and the magnificence of the surrounding grass-covered peaks, also known as the Kitzbühel Südberge.

The famous painter and architect Alfons Walde felt he had found a very special place in a quiet location south of Kitzbühel with extraordinary locals and moved his easel to Aurach to put the enchanting church onto canvas. The town centre with its onion-shaped church tower remains a popular object for casual painters and photographers to capture.

Grand estates

The Aurach association of young farmers has created an impressive tour of the tranquil village with the AurachERleben hiking trail. It leads past the numerous grand estates that have been in family ownership for generations, at least 300 years. AurachERleben guides you along the most beautiful hiking trails in Aurach and provides valuable information about the most traditional facilities in the village. Hikers and walkers have the opportunity to learn more about the typical local grand estates, chapels, mining and the local fauna and flora.

The Aurach Wildlife Park impresses with its unique location with a panoramic view of the Kitzbühel Alps and its animal inhabitants: you can see red deer, fallow deer and mouflon in Tyrol's largest outdoor enclosure, as well as ibex, lynx, yaks and many other animals. The impressive game feeding takes place daily at 2.30 p.m. at the large feeding area.

A highlight for children is the Streichlstadl with goats, donkeys, sheep, llamas, mini-Shetland ponies, rabbits and guinea pigs. The children can let off steam in the large playground, where everything revolves around Willi Wildschwein.

After a tour, you can treat yourself in the cosy Branderhofstube restaurant with regional produce and enjoy the view of the mountains.

The Aurach Wildlife Park is also the main location for the famous Austrian TV series “Da wo die Berge sind” with Hansi Hinterseer.
