Reith and its baroque Parish Church were first mentioned in a document around 1190. Schloss Münichau was built around 1460, and once served as an aristocratic residence. It has now been run as a hotel for many years. The monk of Schloss Münichau also plays a key role in Reith’s village coat of arms. While silver and copper were mined from the 15th to the 18th century at Rerobichl and Astberg, the local economy is currently rooted in agriculture, businesses and tourism. At any rate, Reith is a wonderful place to be, whether in summer or in winter.
