A via ferrata for every taste

The Kitzbühel region offers a broad range of via ferrata routes. Choose from various Alpine and sport climbing routes of different degrees of difficulty.

 

Equipment and levels of difficulty

Equipment:
Complete climbing equipment with helmet (possibly safety rope for beginners).

Description of the difficulty levels:
A: little difficult
B: moderately difficult
C: difficult
D: very difficult
E: extremely difficult

Alpine Klettersteige

from the Griessner Alm (car park), follow the marked trail to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: A | B
Total duration: 5-6 hours

Kaisertal car park near Ebbs. Then follow the marked trail to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: B | C
Approach: 4 hours
Ascent: 3.5 hours
Descent: 4 hours

from Ellmau to Wochenbrunneralm (car park). Proceed via the Gruttenhütte mountain hut to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: A | B
Approach: 2 hours
Ascent: 2 hours
Descent: 3.5 hours

 

Sport climbing routes

take the Horn-Gipfelbahn cable car to the summit and then take the path leading down to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: C | D
Approach: 0.5 hours
Ascent: 1 hour
Descent: by cable car

access the Schmidt-Zabierow-Hütte mountain hut from the Loferer Hochtal valley. Continue to the Wehrgrubenjoch ridge and from there to the start of the via ferrata.
Difficulty: B | C
Approach: 3.5 hours
Ascent: 1 hour
Descent: 3 hours

from Leogang head towards the Passauerhütte mountain hut (car park). Continue to Hochtor and the start of the via ferrata.
Difficulty: C | D
Approach: 2.5 hours
Ascent: 2.5 hours
Descent: 3 hours

from the Wochenbrunneralm mountain hut (car park). Continue via Gaudiamushütte mountain hut to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: D
Approach: 1 hour

from the Walchsee lake to Graspointenalm. Then continue to Winklalm and to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: A | B
Approach: 2.5 hours
Ascent: 1 hour
Descent: 3 hours

from the Kufstein Kaiserlift car park to the Kaindlhütte mountain station and then via Schuttkar to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: A | B
Approach: 2 hours
Ascent: 1 hour
Descent: 1.5 hours

approach from the car park of the Gasthof Steinplatte inn (toll) to Stallenalm and continue on the marked trail
Difficulty: B | C
Approach: 1 hour

from Fieberbrunn to the Lärchfilzhochalm and onward to the start of the via ferrata
Difficulty: C | D or A | B (choose at the start of the via ferrata)
