Reith by Kitzbühel
REITH BEI KITZBÜHEL is the ideal destination for anyone looking for the peace, atmosphere and tranquility of a small Tirolean village combined with the comforts of a cosmopolitan city in close proximity.
Framed by the limestone massif of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range in the north, the family-friendly mountain Kitzbühler Horn in the east and the world-famous Hahnenkamm mountain in the south, our cosy village of Reith is idyllically situated.
Thanks to its convenient location, the diverse landscape and the traditional rustic charm, this small village with a population of 1,860 is a popular destination for visitors looking for peace and relaxation, but who don’t want to forego the diverse amenities of the Kitzbühel region with its well-developed infrastructure.
In the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps, only about 3 km from Kitzbühel.
Approx. 800 to 2,000 metres above sea level
The Duden dictionary once referred to the Tiroleans as a “belligerent mountain race”. However, even in the past we weren’t really that bad.
Reith was first mentioned in a document around 1190 with its baroque parish church.
Schloss Münichau was built around 1460, and once served as an aristocratic residence. It has now been run as a hotel for many years. The monk of Schloss Münichau also plays a key role in Reith’s village coat of arms.
While silver and copper were mined from the 15th to the 18th century at Rerobichl and Astberg, the local economy is currently rooted in agriculture, businesses and tourism.
At any rate, Reith is a wonderful place to be, whether in summer or in winter.
