Pools and Lakes

The Kitzbühel region offers a rare variety of natural and recreational places to swim. Foremost among them is Schwarzsee, one of the warmest mountain lakes in the Alps. Its dark, nutrient-rich water warms up quickly and is known for its soothing effect on both body and mind—often well into September, allowing for pleasantly warm swimming even in late summer. The Gieringer Weiher, a natural oasis in the Bichlach area, is also a favourite for those looking to combine hiking with a refreshing swim.

The Jochberg Forest Swimming Pool, the Bichlachbad in Oberndorf, and the outdoor pool at Schwarzsee are particularly well suited to families, with large sunbathing lawns, play areas and additional facilities. Those looking to swim regardless of the weather will find the Aquarena swimming centre an ideal option, with its 25 m pool, water slides, relaxation area and restaurant.

On hot summer days in the mountains, the region’s clear mountain lakes provide peaceful places to cool down and unwind. Whether at the Torsee, Blaue Lacke or Hintersteiner See, these scenic spots combine wide alpine views with a sense of natural tranquillity.
