The fish and the (Kitzbühel) fisherman will be the focus of an evening at the Museum Kitzbühel on 17 September 2026 from 7 pm.
Which fish species are found in which local waters? What are a fisherman's duties besides fishing? To what extent are waters and fish affected by heatwaves, barrages, or water extraction? What is the fascination of fishing: peace and contemplation, the hunting instinct, or fisherman's tales?
Organized on the occasion of the exhibition "Biber, Birke, Badegast. Lebensraum Schwarzsee" together with the Schwarzseefischer around Gerhard Vogl and Thomas Neumair and the fishery committee of the Kitzbühel district with chairman Helmut Pletzenauer, this evening provides comprehensive information on the topic of "fishing". Emilio Stock, long-standing president of the Austrian and Tyrolean Fishery Association, speaks about the history, tasks, and challenges of fishing in the Kitzbühel district. The Kitzbühel Schwarzsee- und Fließgewässerfischer will be on hand with fish specimens, photos, and films to answer the questions of anyone wanting to learn about local fishing. Following the presentation, the Museum Kitzbühel invites you to a drinks reception.
Before the Schwarzsee evening, there is an opportunity at 6 p.m. for a special guided tour of the exhibition "Biber, Birke, Badegast", during which the Kitzbüheler Schwarzseefischer will explain the numerous exhibits related to fishing.
The event (evening + tour) can be attended at the museum's standard admission prices (€ 9.00, children and young people up to 18 free).
