e-Bikes for Sustainable Meetings

At Kitzbühel Tourism, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

Recently, we purchased four e-bikes for our staff to use when attending local meetings. This initiative reduces the need for cars, helping to lower CO2 emissions and promote eco-friendly travel. Beyond reducing our carbon footprint, this also supports the health and well-being of our team through exercise, contributing to better working conditions. Additionally, by cycling, our staff gain firsthand experience of the local biking infrastructure, helping us develop and improve biking initiatives across the region.

Sustainable Craftsmanship

Year-round, our Infrastructure team works tirelessly in all weather conditions to maintain and enhance the infrastructure across our four villages. Using only natural, locally sourced materials, and avoiding chemical products, we are fully committed to sustainable practices.

The craftsmanship and skills of the team are central to this effort. By applying traditional techniques and respecting the materials that have shaped our landscape, we not only safeguard the natural beauty of Kitzbühel but also honor the heritage that defines our unique identity.

Here are some recent examples: the new panorama bench on the Rettenberg, the restoration of the bridge in Reith, and the repair of pathways on the Bichlalm.

Sustainable Mobility and Communication

At Kitzbühel Tourism, we see sustainable mobility not only as eco-friendly travel but also as the ability to communicate better with our international guests.

This is why we’ve introduced a language course for our staff through WIFI Tirol. The course focuses on conversational skills, helping us better understand and meet the needs of our foreign visitors. Currently, some team members are learning Italian and French to strengthen relationships with guests from these regions. The course is at A1 level, consists of 20 hours of lessons, and is held once a week. This initiative highlights our commitment to providing exceptional, personalized service.

Supporting Local Businesses and Tradition

At Kitzbühel Tourism, we are committed to preserving the unique character of our region by supporting local businesses and traditions. By sourcing products and services from nearby suppliers, we not only boost the local economy but also honor the skills and craftsmanship passed down through generations. This reduces the need for long-distance deliveries, helping us lower our carbon footprint. We carefully review at least three offers before making any decision, ensuring that our resources are used responsibly and in ways that benefit our community. This approach enriches the visitor experience with genuine local flavor while supporting the livelihoods of those who call Kitzbühel home.

Golfplatz Schwarzsee | Greenest Golf Club

The Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith Golf Course, operated by Kitzbühel Tourism, was awarded 2nd place in the ‘Greenest Golf Club’ category by Golf Magazine Perfect Eagle.

The greenkeeping team created several vibrant wildflower meadows covering a total of 2,000 m² to support three bee colonies. In late summer 2022, 45 kg of honey were harvested for the first time.

Our commitment to preserving the natural environment and protecting local species has always been a priority, alongside maintaining the highest quality of our course. We’ve eliminated the use of pesticides entirely and rely solely on organic fertilizers, with a strong focus on sustainable plant care.

Since summer 2023, our golf course has also been free of plastic bottles. Golfers can purchase stylish reusable bottles at the course and in the restaurant, and refill them at our newly designed fountain offering Grander water, ensuring hydration in harmony with nature.

Tips for Sustainable Behaviour in Nautre

Green Event Tirol - Basic

Kitz Kulinarik has become Kitzbühel’s first event to receive the prestigious "Green Events Tirol" certification, a testament to our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. This certification was earned by meeting several key criteria, including close cooperation with local and regional partners to support the community, minimizing printed materials to reduce waste, eliminating the use of disposable items, and actively promoting public transport options to reduce our carbon footprint. By aligning with these principles, Kitz Kulinarik showcases how events in Kitzbühel can offer unforgettable experiences while respecting and preserving our natural surroundings.

Zero Waste in the Mountains

Sustainability, zero waste, living without litter—these are goals we all aim for, though avoiding all packaging waste can be challenging. That’s why we’ve gathered simple tips to show how small actions can protect our mountains and natural spaces.

  • Use reusable containers for food.
