When Even the Volks-Rock’n’Roller Is Moved to Tears
A chamois for a very special friend and ambassador of the Gamsstadt: On Saturday, 22 August 2026, Andreas Gabalier was presented with the Gold Medal of Honour by Kitzbühel Tourism during the traditional fan reception in Kitzbühel town centre.
In front of thousands of enthusiastic fans, Kitzbühel Tourism Chairman Dr. Christian Harisch presented the Volks-Rock’n’Roller with the special award – a handcrafted Golden Chamois created by the Kitzbühel family business Schroll. And it certainly made an impression: visibly moved, Andreas Gabalier accepted the Golden Chamois. Afterwards, the musician admitted that even “a few crocodile tears” had been shed. It was a highly emotional moment in front of thousands of fans, who gave their Andreas an equally warm and enthusiastic welcome at what has long since become a traditional reception in Kitzbühel town centre.
A Very Special Connection to the Gamsstadt
Gold for the Volks-Rock’n’Roller – and a chamois for a very special ambassador of Kitzbühel. The bond between Andreas Gabalier and the Gamsstadt has long been about far more than concerts. The Volks-Rock’n’Roller visits his Gamsstadt several times a year and associates Kitzbühel with countless personal memories, friendships and emotional experiences.
“Kitzbühel is unique and has become a second home to me. My heartfelt and deeply sincere thanks for this very special award in gold. It will have a special place above my desk, because this town is associated with so many emotions and wonderful experiences,” said a visibly moved Andreas Gabalier.
A Highlight of the Kitzbühel Summer Since 2012
With his music, Gabalier captivates an audience of millions and carries the Austrian way of life far beyond the country’s borders. Since 2012, his performance in August has been one of the major highlights of Kitzbühel’s summer events calendar. Alongside the Generali Open, the concert weekend ranks among the town’s annual summer highlights – with the tennis stadium selling out year after year and thousands of enthusiastic fans attending.
For the occasion, the Kitzbühel Tennis Stadium turns into a truly unique cauldron of excitement: nowhere else are the fans quite so close to the artist, and nowhere else can the emotions be felt quite so intensely.
Fans can also look forward to seeing Andreas Gabalier in Kitzbühel again in 2027. The Volks-Rock’n’Roller will play his only open-air concert there that year. Demand is therefore already high for the coveted concert tickets for 20 and 21 August 2027.
