Kitzbühel Tourism triumphs at the Imperial Palace

TIROLERIN Award recognises Kitzbühel’s successful year-round strategy, innovative strength and regional value creation

Kitzbühel Tourism celebrates a major success: In the festive setting of the Imperial Palace in Innsbruck, Kitzbühel Tourism was honoured with the TIROLERIN Award in the "Tourism & Regional Value Creation” category. Managing Director Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser accepted the award on behalf of the entire team.

More than 200 guests from the worlds of business, culture and politics attended the festive gala in the magnificent Giant Hall of the Imperial Palace. The award recognised the destination’s consistent strategic development and its successful positioning as an attractive year-round destination.

In his laudatory speech, Florian Neuner, Head of Industry and Corporate Communications at Tirol Werbung, particularly highlighted the dynamic development of Kitzbühel Tourism, driven by a consistently pursued strategic process. In addition to the diverse range of events, he acknowledged the strategic realignment, the brand relaunch, and the strengthening and further development of the Kitzbühel brand.

A key milestone in this journey was the multi-award-winning brand relaunch in 2024. As the visible result of a long-term brand-building process based on five defined success patterns, a core proposition and clear positioning, it provides the foundation for Kitzbühel’s long-term development as a contemporary year-round destination.

Events as a driving force behind the year-round strategy
For Kitzbühel Tourism, the award also confirms the consistent strategic direction pursued over recent years. A central pillar of this strategy is the year-round development of the destination’s B2C and B2B event portfolio.

For many years, Kitzbühel has provided the stage for prestigious events and international encounters. Alongside renowned sporting highlights such as the Hahnenkamm Races, the Generali Open and the Austrian Alpine Open, which was held in Kitzbühel for the first time in 2026 as part of the DP World Tour, numerous other events spanning sport, art, culture and lifestyle shape the calendar throughout the year. These also include the KURIER ROMY, Austria’s film and television awards, which will return to the Gamsstadt for the second time in November.

“We see events as an opportunity to raise the national and international profile of high-quality offerings such as our golf experiences or the start of the winter season through prestigious events such as the Austrian Alpine Open or the KURIER ROMY Gala. At the same time, it is very important to us to make Kitzbühel’s joy of life tangible throughout the year. This is why formats such as Kitzbühel Advent and PURA VIDA are particularly important to us. They demonstrate that we take responsibility for our destination and for everyone who lives, works or stays as a guest here,” explains Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourism. Veider-Walser also emphasises that this success is only possible thanks to the dedicated collaboration of numerous highly skilled and motivated partners from Kitzbühel and beyond.

The award also comes in a special anniversary year: as of this week, Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser has been at the helm of Kitzbühel Tourism for ten years.

The coming months also promise fresh momentum. Asked what comes next, Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser remains discreet for now: “Something New is Coming.” There is, however, already one date to mark in the calendar: 10 October 2026.

Further award recognising voluntary commitment to Tyrol
Alongside Kitzbühel Tourism, numerous other outstanding personalities, projects and companies were honoured during the evening. On behalf of all the award recipients, Kitzbühel Tourism congratulates Thomas Brandtner and his team on receiving the award in the “Volunteering” category and recognises their commitment to their home base.
