The ski area

Dominated by 3 mountain ranges delicately wrapped in a thick layer of snow, Kitzbühel has a unique gliding terrain that is a dream come true for skiers from all over the world between snow-covered forests, sunny landscapes and immaculate mountain meadows. With 70 km of cross-country ski trails, 233 km of downhill slopes and just as many pristine slopes, Kitzbühel is the ideal ski resort for your winter holiday with family or friends.

Beginner Areas

As iconic as it is authentic, the Kitzbühel ski area is a true playground, perfect for both thrills and learning to ski. Equipped with many facilities for all winter sports, the Kitzbühel ski area is undoubtedly the ideal place to take your first turns on the slopes. Discover the Beginners' area,

All practice lifts in the valley are free of charge. The first turns are free of charge for everyone. No matter whether you are a toddler, beginner or newcomer, you do not need a valid ski pass for our Rasmusleiten, Mocking, Ministreif (Kitzbühel), Hausleiten (Jochberg), Pass Thurn, Aschau and Reith practice lifts.

Children's paradise

The Kitz Mini-Streif ski slope, accessible with A3 Rasmusleiten or A4 Ministreif belongs to the little ones who dare to ski down the hill for the first time, as well as the brave kids who are ready for attractions in the snow. Attractions like the mini mouse trap, the chamois, the Seidlalm pedal organ, the 'steep slope' and the Kids-Hausbergkante await the children. The pony lift then pulls them back up - until it works.

Another attraction is the Bear Land. The course with life-size, hand-carved bears has some challenges in store: a slalom course, dwarf gates as well as obstacles where skill and balance on skis are required.

Snowsports for Pros

Jumping, sliding, riding, gliding, spinning, flying, twirling.... Freestyle skiing is much more than a discipline, it represents a state of mind that combines creativity, daring and technique. Freestyle skiing and snowboarding in the snow park is the perfect challenge for advanced skiers. With its various lines and areas, the snow park leaves nothing to be desired and always has something new in store in the setup. Easily accessible by ski lifts, completely free of charge and absolutely safe, the freestyle area is the unmissable meeting place for amateur athletes and experienced skiers, where the friendly atmosphere is all about one thing: enjoying yourself. Tip: Don't miss the biggest freestyle event on the snow.

Kitzbühel and the Hahnenkamm Races

Kitzbühel and the Hahnenkamm Races simply belong together. The 5th season of the year begins in January in Kitzbühel, when the best of the best compete on what is probably the most spectacular race track in the world. Then the Streif becomes the center of attention in the sports world, and the winner of the Hahnenkamm Race becomes a legend.

Vacation in the world's best skiing area

The excellent infrastructure and diverse offerings in the Kitzbühel ski regions are also recognized internationally: in 2015, Kitzbühel won the title "World's Best Ski Resort."The Gamsstadt has won the award for Austria five times in a row and is currently the “The Best Ski Resort in Austria."The regular infrastructure investments made by Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel (also known as “KitzSki”) contribute to the Gamsstadt topping the list of the best ski resorts in Austria.

With its 145 miles of beautiful slopes, the guaranteed-to-be-snowy Kitzbühel ski area in Tyrol, Austria is undoubtedly one of the most popular resorts in the world. 57 cable cars and ski lifts, great freeride opportunities, and – above all – the world-famous Streif all await ski vacationers in the “best ski area in the world,” inviting you to experience skiing paradise!

The Streif myth

One word, one legend: Streif! It’s the most demanding descent in the world, where the very best skiers battle for each hundredth of a second in the legendary Hahnenkamm Races in January... and you can conquer it in Kitzbühel’s largest ski area in winter as well as summer. But be careful: to follow in the footsteps of the world's best downhill skiers, you must be very experienced. The key points on the Streif, like the Mausefalle, the Steilhang, and the Hausbergkante, are marked as "extreme ski routes." However, people who simply ski for pleasure can have their own fun in the snow: on the Familienstreif, you can fill your lungs with that high-altitude World Cup air under more leisurely conditions, as the route skips the most difficult passages in the ski race. Beginners can have a go at the Mini-Streif, a skill course at the foot of the Hahnenkamm ski run, then take a lift back up and do it all over again. Another highlight of the Kitzbühel ski area is the legendary “Ganslernhang." Eager skiers try to emulate the masters of technique on one of the last classic slalom courses in the World Cup.

Skiing is a tradition in Kitzbühel

The most legendary sports and recreation town in the Alps has been writing skiing history for over 125 years. The Gamsstadt is characterized by easy accessibility, long winters, guaranteed snow, and numerous top ski events.

Snow fun for the whole family

The sports city also has a lot to offer for families and children. Each of the ski schools has its own children's area where young ski stars learn their first arcs in a playful environment. The snow park on the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain in St. Johann in Tyrol offers pure skiing fun. The Audi quattro Funslope with waves, tunnels, and a bridge makes skiing an adventure for little ones. The kicker line for advanced skiers and snowboarders is perfect for trying out your new freestyle tricks.

The free practice lifts in the valley are a unique highlight available to all beginners in Kitzbühel and its vacation villages. Of course, ski rental is available in all Kitzbühel vacation areas. But families will also find a lot to do off-piste: with the weekly children's themed hikes, rides on the cable cars, or a visit to the swimming pool in the “Aquarena,” there’s plenty of variety. Whether carriage rides, tobogganing, or ice skating, a vacation in Kitzbühel is an unforgettable experience for the whole family!
