Mixed between trails and roads, this tour takes you to the sunny side of Kitzbühel, past beautiful farms to Aurach and back again.
The Sonnberg Loop, covering nearly 11 kilometers with a 237-meter elevation gain, requires a bit of stamina. Starting at the Sports Park in Kitzbühel, head towards the Kitzbüheler Ache, following it south. Cross the main road and enter the Zephirau district. The ascent begins here, initially gently on the road, then turn right and left onto a hiking trail. This trail leads steadily uphill, passing Lacken farm and continuing to Eben farm. The climb ends here, offering a beautiful view of the southern mountains. Don’t forget to turn around for a view of the city and the Wilder Kaiser. The route continues with a slight incline until reaching Unterbrunn farm, where it switches to a trail. This section is particularly beautiful in spring when the trees are in bloom. Another highlight is the historic Bachernhof farm. Follow the signs towards Aurach, descending gently until reaching Hallerwirt, then turn right towards Talboden. Run along the sidewalk and a narrow road until reaching the main road, cross it, and turn right again by the Ache. Follow the river back to Kitzbühel and return to the starting point at the Sports Park.
