Kitzbühel attitude to life
Alpine lifestyle and idyllic nature, rustic tradition and modern attitude to life: hardly any other city combines these contrasts as skilfully as Kitzbühel. The most legendary sports town in the Alps became world famous through the Hahnenkamm Race, but this is only one facet of the myth of Kitzbühel. Rather, it is the incomparable charm of the region and its towns of Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach and Jochberg, the excellent infrastructure with top hotels and restaurants, the multitude of sporting opportunities and the fascinating landscape that make Kitzbühel so unique.
The most legendary sports town in the Alps offers an extensive programme of sporting activities – 365 days a year. No matter which sport you can’t afford to miss on your holiday – Kitzbühel offers more than one possibility. Skiing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, ski touring or freeriding – there are no limits for the sportsman’s heart. Whether you are looking for adventure or pleasure, in Kitzbühel, Tyrol, everyone will find a suitable sporting challenge.
Holidays in the world’s best skiing area
The excellent infrastructure and diversity of the Kitzbühel ski area is also internationally recognised: Kitzbühel won the title of “World’s Best Ski Resort” in 2015. Throughout Austria, the chamois town has already won this award five times in a row and is also currently “Austria’s Best Ski Resort”. The regular infrastructure investments of Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel (also known as “KitzSki”) contribute to this success.
Skiing is a tradition in Kitzbühel
The most legendary sports town in the Alps has been writing skiing history for over 125 years. Easy accessibility, long winters, high snow reliability and numerous top events distinguish the Chamois town.
The myth of the Streif
One word, one legend: Stripe! The world’s most challenging downhill run, on which the best skiers compete for every hundredth in the legendary Hahnenkamm Race in January, can be conquered by you in winter as well as in summer. But beware: if you want to follow in the footsteps of the world’s best downhill skiers, you should be a very skilled skier. The key points of the Streif, such as Mausefalle, steep slope or Hausbergkante are marked as “extreme ski route”. However, pleasure skiers can also make their own Streif experience: On the “Family Streif” you can breathe a little more leisurely World Cup air, as it avoids the most difficult passages. Beginners can try their hand at the “Mini-Streif”, a skill course at the foot of the Hahnenkamm run. Another highlight of the Kitzbühel ski area is the legendary “Ganslernhang”. On one of the last classic slalom courses in the World Cup, the technique stars are emulated.
Snow fun for the whole family
The sports city also has a lot to offer families and children. Each ski school has its own children’s area where the young ski stars learn their first bows in a playful way. The Snowpark on the Kitzbüheler Horn offers pure skiing fun. The Audi quattro Funslope with waves, tunnels and bridge makes skiing an adventure for the little ones. Perfect for trying out your freestyle tricks is the Kickerline for advanced skiers and snowboarders.
A unique highlight are the free practice lifts in the valley, which are available to all beginners in Kitzbühel and its holiday villages. Of course, ski hire is available in all holiday regions of Kitzbühel. But also off-piste there is a lot on offer for families: With the weekly children’s theme walks or a visit to the swimming pool in the “Aquarena” there is plenty of variety. Whether it’s carriage rides, tobogganing or ice skating, a holiday in Kitzbühel will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family!
