The passionate songwriters Klaus Schickhofer and Hills Smith do not allow themselves to be pinned down and their music is based on the way Klaus Schickhofer plucks his electric and resonator guitars as if he had grown up in the swamps of Louisiana, with Hills Smith's voice tinged with a touch of sadness. They have their roots in Anglo-American music, and writing their own songs played the biggest role right from the start. Picking people up, going on a musical journey together is the main focus, and at their live performances you can sometimes feel that fine line between love and loss. Above all, Hills Smith says, it's the freedom of the word that counts. In the style of artists such as Natalie Merchant, Lucinda Williams or Bob Dylan, she devotes herself to unsentimental self-reflection, revealing some uncomfortable lyrics about the fragile aspects of humanity and confidently getting to the heart of the matter. Rhythmically grounded are THE STEAM RADIOS with Walter Graf on drums and percussion and Haley Resch on Fender bass, as the proven masters of blue-eyed soul.
