A magnificent experience

Many paths lead over the Streif - on foot, with skis, by bike, or with a paraglider (tandem flight). If you want to take it easy without worrying too much about the flight, you can go uphill with the Hahnenkammbahn. Just a few steps away from the station is the base of Element3 company. There's no turning back now. An experienced tandem pilot was initially responsible for the briefing, and then we were off.

Three, two, one and go

The tandem harness is easy and comfortable to put on. The parachute, with a size of about 40m2, is spread out by the tandem pilot, while spectators stand around eagerly waiting for the takeoff. Some of them would probably love to switch places.

The thermals are ideal, allowing for longer time in the air. To explain: thermals are a form of updraft that occurs when sunlight heats the Earth's surface, and in turn, the air near the ground. The sensation of hovering above the Hahnenkamm mountain station and the view of the impressive landscape is indescribable. Kitzbühel now lies at the feet of the tandem flyers, with breathtaking panoramic views.

Only flying is more beautiful

The wind in the air rarely feels as strong as it actually is. In the summer, a jacket is hardly needed since it remains pleasantly warm even high above Kitzbühel. Next on the flight plan is a right turn that can be somewhat compared to a roller coaster ride. To capture this unique experience in pictures, there is a selfie stick available. Thanks to it, there are photos from every angle and flight position. Guests are allowed to take the photos home for a small fee at the end of the flight.

Practice makes perfect

Tandem pilots have to undergo a long and intensive training. This means that in addition to more than 200 tandem flights, they also require years of training to be able to take passengers. For paragliders, the process is faster, as they only need about 40 flights and training. The nearest flight school is located in Westendorf. Tandem flights are offered both in winter and summer, with the maintenance of the parachutes being particularly important throughout the year.

Every high comes to an end

As instructed by the pilot, guests are advised to keep their feet extended and remain seated to ensure a smooth landing. One landing spot, for example, is the Mockingwiese. For the tandem pilot, it's back up the mountain for the next tandem jump, and the guests are more than grateful for this incredible experience.
