Immerse yourself in the glass workshop of Tom Schneidinger and the craftsmanship that has developed over generations in the picturesque Kitzbühel, Austria, and has been passed down. Their world is characterized by intricate stained glass, delicate sandblasting, and the creation of unique artworks. One thing is certain: craftsmanship is paramount in Tom's workshop, and each piece radiates a love for detail.
Kitzbühel-based traditional business
Tom Schneidinger, a true Kitzbühel local, continues his family's glassmaking tradition in its third generation. The history of the glassworks begins with his grandfather, who founded the sheet metal and glassworks in 1949 and ran it until 1976. Tom's father, Kurt, took over the business in 1976, and in 2012, it was Tom's turn to carry on the family business. Growing up in Kitzbühel and being actively involved in his father's workshop since early childhood, his passion for glass and glass art became his driving force.
We are a small team of two, a modest enterprise here in Kitzbühel, but we do everything that is possible.
The passion for glass
Tom's passion for the art of glasswork is evident in his daily endeavors. From intricate stained glass to the delicate sandblasting of candleholders or items featuring the Kitzbühel chamois, this is where his heart lies. Besides his role as a master glazier, Tom's day is defined by the versatility of the craft. He usually starts the day with his colleague Martin, quite leisurely, with a cup of coffee and a briefing for the day ahead. The two share not only a love for working with glass but also a childhood passion for ice hockey. Tom played ice hockey for a total of 25 years, including in the Kitzbühel senior team. Yet, his father Kurt always emphasized, 'work first, then play hockey.' Today, Tom enjoys spending his free time with his family in nature.
The glassworks and its offerings
As a master glazier, Tom runs a small, exquisite, yet highly specialized glassworks in Kitzbühel. Alongside his colleague Martin, they focus on everything related to glass: repairs, intricate stained glass works, designing showers and kitchen backsplashes, as well as crafting bespoke items like sandblasted LED mirrors. Their love for detail shines in the design of kitchen backsplashes, where the individuality of each customer takes center stage. Collaboration with local, often well-established businesses is crucial for Tom, as they work together to bring ideas and visions to life. Here, it seems there are no limits.
Whenever I come across something exciting on the internet, I try to implement it directly with Martin.
The Kitzbühel Formula
Alpine lifestyle and idyllic nature, rustic traditions and a modern way of life: Few cities combine these contrasts as skillfully as Kitzbühel. The sports capital of the Alps gained worldwide fame through the legendary Hahnenkamm races, but that is just one facet of the Kitzbühel legend. It is, above all, the incomparable charm of the region, with the towns of Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach, and Jochberg, the excellent infrastructure with top-quality hotels and gastronomy, the multitude of sports opportunities, and the captivating landscape that make Kitzbühel so unique.
