Benedikt Anton Aufschnaiter, born in Kitzbühel, is considered one of the grand masters of South German-Austrian instrumental music from around 1700. His mastery is evidenced by suites such as the ‘Serenada della Pace’ and the ‘Concerto della Cortesia’, which are very modern for their time and feature a diverse range of instruments. These works have been preserved in the Benedictine monastery of Seitenstetten in Lower Austria. The Innsbruck Court Music Ensemble under Marian Polin will present this selection from Aufschnaiter's instrumental music in combination with works by his contemporaries in a concert at the Kitzbühel Regional Music School. Of course, his predecessor as Passau court conductor, the great Georg Muffat, will not be missing, nor will Johann Joseph Fux, whose career shows many parallels with that of Aufschnaiter. It will be exciting to hear how Baroque musical splendour sounds.
