16.08.2022 / Since 2013, the Kitzbühel Film Festival (FFKB) has been held every year in August. So this year, from August 22nd to 28th, 2022, the10th anniversary will be celebrated when films from Austria and around the world will once again be presented to a large audience.
An unforgettable film week with celebratory films and events
The organizers have made it their goal to give national and international films a stage in Kitzbühel, with a special focus on films by young directors. The aim is to offer them a platform to present their films to a large audience as well as to experts from the film industry and the press.
The film festival week in Kitzbühel will kick off on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022 with an opening speech at 6:30 p.m. in the Filmtheater Kitzbühel (Room A) followed by the film "Rubikon". Later in the evening, there will be the "Cinema for All" at 8:30 p.m. at and around Hotel Das Reisch with food & drinks and lots of good cheer. Other events await on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. with the jury's Weißwurst Brunch at Hotel Das Reisch and the Alumni Party on Friday, August 26th, 2022 from 11:00 p.m. at Club The Londoner, to which all visitors are cordially invited. Furthermore, two exciting discussion rounds on Friday, August 26th, 2022 on the topic of "Everything always, everywhere and in excess - the audience in the digital age" and on Saturday, August 27th on the topic of "Opportunities and challenges - discussion round on the new incentive model for Austria as a film location" invite you to exchange ideas. The highlight of the event week is the award ceremony on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 at 7:00 pm, followed by the festival night starting at 8:30 pm at the Lebenberg Schlosshotel.
In various categories from Short Film to Documentary to Homeland and many more, the audience is offered an interesting as well as diverse spectrum of films. These films will be shown at various locations throughout the city. Among others, the open-air cinema in the city on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 and Saturday, August 27th, 2022, the drive-in cinema on Thursday, August 25th, 2022 and the cinema on the mountain at the Alpenhaus Kitzbüheler Horn at an altitude of 1,670 meters on Friday, August 26th, 2022 offer impressive film experiences.
It remains exciting until the end who will take the highly coveted Film Festival Kitzbühel Gams Trophy and thus receive this year's winner's award in the various categories.
