Mirjam Weichselbraun and Hans Sigl will host the KURIER ROMY 2025 in Kitzbühel!

Austria's leading film and television award, the KURIER ROMY, returns this year with a fresh new look and exciting changes. After a short break, ROMY 2025 will celebrate its comeback in a modern format and at a spectacular new venue: for the first time, the KURIER ROMY will take place in Kitzbühel.

Kitzbühel and the KURIER ROMY Gala embody the glamour and exclusivity of Austria, bringing together the peaks of winter sports with the highlights of entertainment," summarizes Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourism. "When two strong brands come together, great things can happen. For the KURIER ROMY in particular, the allure of the most legendary sports city of the Alps and Kitzbühel’s proximity to southern Germany offer significant potential for future development. By scheduling the event at the end of November - perfectly timed with the opening of the Hahnenkamm cable car - we are creating a very special start to the winter season

It has now also been confirmed who will lead the evening: audience favorites Mirjam Weichselbraun and Hans Sigl will host the KURIER ROMY Awards ceremony on Friday, 28 November, 2025. They will welcome around 500 distinguished guests from the world of film and television to what promises to be a dazzling gala event.

For the first time, Austria’s most coveted film and television award will take place in cooperation with the Kitzbühel Film Festival. This partnership, which has already received positive feedback in the lead-up to the event, brings together the glamorous world of the ROMY with the creative spirit of the festival, promising an entire week dedicated to celebrating film and television.

KURIER CEO Richard Grasl emphasizes: "This year, the KURIER ROMY will be hosted by two true audience favorites, Hans Sigl and Mirjam Weichselbraun. With the gala in Kitzbühel, we are sending a strong signal for the further development of this prestigious award. The KURIER ROMY is opening a new chapter in its illustrious history."

The ORF will once again be on board as a long-standing partner, broadcasting the awards ceremony on ORF 2 with a short delay and on the streaming platform ORF ON, while also providing extensive editorial coverage.

The inaugural collaboration with the Kitzbühel Film Festival highlights the KURIER ROMY’s strategic repositioning. The aim is to reach new audiences and further strengthen the event’s international appeal. The proximity to Munich, a major hub for television and media, as well as to the broader German market, offers ideal conditions for this development.

"Kitzbühel and the KURIER ROMY Gala embody the glamour and exclusivity of Austria in a unique way," says Michael Reisch, Managing Director of the Filmfestival Kitzbühel. "The collaboration with the KURIER ROMY creates a fascinating connection between film, television, and an exceptional setting. We look forward to jointly creating an unforgettable film week in Tirol."

Further details regarding the KURIER ROMY 2025, including the nominees, will be announced in due course, ahead of the gala.
