Turning passion into a profession

Fun and lots of good humor - these are the ingredients for the successful concept of Lisa Obenauer's Malern platform. The Kitzbühel native started with Zumba - a combination of aerobics and Latin American dances - around twelve years ago and took such a liking to the sport that training as a trainer followed. She raves about working with people from young to old and prefers to do so outdoors in nature. For the platform on which sports are played, the place at the old oak tree on the farm property was perfect. It reflects a quiet place of strength for recharging energy, situated in the breathtaking scenery of the Kitzbühel mountains. Today, the operator is on the road to success with her idea and offers a colorful program around fitness and physical health from Pilates to yoga to workouts.

True to the motto "Nothing ventured, nothing gained", it is important to Lisa to maintain an open attitude and always start into the future with new and fresh ideas. She combines this young spirit with the tradition of the farm, creating a valuable synergy. In this project of the heart, the young woman receives a lot of family support and backing from her husband as well as her parents-in-law.

A piece of history

The Malern Erbhof at the foot of the Hahnenkamm has existed for over 500 years. Thereby its history is precisely recorded in documents. The family-run farm can be traced back to the tax list of the Bavarian duke in 1240. The huge property, which was written down as the original Hinterhögl farm, was demonstrably split into different properties again and again over the years. Passed on over the centuries, it is documented from 1577 with the name Demblgut and later, from 1789, the estate at Högl was finally given the name Malern.

Finally, 22 years ago, the farm is awarded the distinction of Erbhof. This honor is bestowed on those whose farm has been owned by the same family for 200 years. Beginning with Matheus Obernauer, who acquired the farm from a married couple in 1789, it has been in the Obernauer family ever since. Meanwhile, Lisa's husband Hannes forms the sixth generation together with her, and with their joint son even the seventh.

"This farmhouse is not only for us, but also for our guests."

Close to home through and through

The trained secondary school teacher is a Kitzbühel native with heart and soul. Having grown up here, she enjoys spending her free time with local friends. The likeable cheerful nature also experiences community and cohesion in the rural youth.

Kitzbühel is full of favorite places - from swimming at the Schwarzsee to a sporting experience on her beautiful painter's platform, Lisa is always there with a homely sense of well-being as well as joy.

Local is also a priority when it comes to cultivation: Whether it's apples, pears or apricots, a variety of different fruits grow on the Erbhof.  These are processed into delicious schnapps after the harvest thanks to the distilling right. Lisa herself is currently being taught the significant responsibility of refining by her father-in-law. After all, if distilling is not done every year, the distilling right expires. In addition to the cultivated fruit trees as well as the home-grown vegetable garden, the Obernauer family farm is home to about 25 cows and many other small, animal farmmates such as rabbits, quails or cats.

For Lisa, Kitzbühel has everything to offer - from lush green meadows and clear mountain streams in summer to snowy mountain scenery in winter. Short distances included.

#LocalHeroes from Kitzbühel

It is the people who make Kitzbühel and its holiday villages Reith, Aurach and Jochberg this special. These are exactly the personalities we are talking about in our "LocalHeroes" series, in which the true heroes of our region are put in the spotlight. They would never call themselves heroes, but they are: Because it is only due to their passion for what they do that we can all experience the unique Kitzbühel attitude to life.
