The Kitzbühel Museum - Alfons Walde Collection is located in two of the oldest historic buildings in the city and offers a unique insight into the history and culture of the city and region of Kitzbühel. Selected exhibits as well as film and sound installations lead from Bronze Age mining around 1000 BC. to the town's history and winter sports with Toni Sailer and the legendary "Kitzbüheler Skiwunderteam" of the 1950s. The focus of the museum's permanent display collection is on Alfons Walde. On the third floor and the top floor, the work of the Kitzbühel painter is comprehensively presented with 60 paintings and over 100 graphics, drawings, photographs and prints. You will find selected events & program highlights for 2023 below.

Exhibition from June 17 to October 28, 2023 In summer, collectors from the twin towns of Kitzbühel and Vipiteno share their passion for art with the public. In addition to works by well-known contemporary artists, views of the two twin towns around 1900 are on display. A third focus is on the setting of Kitzbühel with motifs by the painter Alfons Walde. The last part is dedicated to the currents from the post-war period to the present day and thus closes the circle to the contemporary works presented at the beginning.

Details will be announced in good time on the Museum Kitzbühel website.

Art, cellar, children, science slam - the Museum Kitzbühel is once again offering a variety of events during the Long Night of Museums. There will be an exciting program for all visitors of all ages. As every year, museum director Wido Sieberer will guide you through Kitzbühel's basement. The highlight of the evening is a science slam, moderated by the successful German slamer Simon Hauser. The scientific contributions approach topics relevant to Kitzbühel in an understandable and entertaining way.

Kitzbühel's tradition as a town of handicrafts is the focus of the exhibition, which uses numerous exhibits to approach the development of handicrafts. The focus is on the influence of the burgeoning tourism in the late 19th century on the old craft - the wheelwright becomes a ski manufacturer, the locksmith a bobsleigh builder. The special exhibition “Changing Crafts” in the Museum Kitzbühel is dedicated to these and other changes.
