August 14, 2023 / On the day of the Assumption of Mary, all cycling enthusiasts will gather for a special mountain bike race, as Kitzbühel's famous local mountain is once again tackled in a display of sporting prowess.
Next cycling event is on the horizon
About two weeks after the International Kitzbüheler Horn Cycling Race, the next highlight on the event calendar for all cycling enthusiasts in the city of Kitzbühel is approaching. This year, the Kitzsport Sports Club invites participants for the 34th edition of the International Hahnenkamm Mountain Bike Race. The challenge this time is not to ski down the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill course as usual, but to pedal uphill towards the summit with mountain bikes. Cyclists, ranging from amateurs to professionals, are warmly invited to push the pedals and conquer the world-famous Streif with their mountain bikes, battling it out alongside fellow competitors.
Get on the saddle, start pedaling!
The cycling competition kicks off on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM with a mass start in Kitzbühel's city center. As usual, race numbers will be distributed at the city center's Sparkasse. The 9-kilometer-long route with over 940 meters of elevation gain passes through the Jochberg Gate, along Hahnenkammstraße, past the railroad crossing, and straight up to the finish at the Walde mountain station at an altitude of 1,668 meters. Participants will face gradients of up to 16 percent. The award ceremony will take place directly after at the Walde mountain station.
Enthusiastic mountain bike fans in the start and finish area, as well as spectators along the route, are warmly welcome and invited to witness the tradition-rich cycling spectacle live and cheer on the athletes.
