The most beautiful anticipation of Christmas for children is writing a wish list to the Christ Child with all the presents that one would like to unwrap under the tree on Christmas Eve. What could be more natural than writing and sending the wish list directly at the Advent market? Direct delivery to the Christ Child is virtually guaranteed in this festive environment.
That's why Kitzbühel Tourism is once again offering the ever-popular Christkindlpost. Our Kitzbühel Christkindlpost office is located at the snow star directly at the Sparkassenplatz. Here you will also find the corresponding letter forms in gold, blue or gray. The children drop the individual message to the Christ Child in the post box and Kitzbühel Tourism forwards it directly to the Christ Child.
Traditional Christmas tunes and native sounds, which awaken memories, invite you to let the year end contemplatively. Through the musical background and the atmospheric mood, you can immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas past from childhood days and feel the glow of lights in your heart.
At the Kitzbühel Advent Market - one of the most tradition-rich Christmas markets in Tyrol - you can look forward to different live music every day, with festive sounds awaiting you both in the 750-year-old town center and in the town park.

Traditional, romantic and atmospheric is the Christmas season in Kitzbühel, Tyrol. And what would an Advent market be without Advent stalls where you can buy Christmas tree decorations, woolen crafts and carvings for under the Christmas tree or as souvenirs? In Kitzbühel, year after year, local and regional craftsmen present their work. And not only that - you can watch some of them at work right on the spot.
Also this year, some representatives of the craftsmanship are represented at the Kitzbühel Advent Market. At Drechslerstube Hauser you can witness how a unique piece of work is created by master craftsmen with the highest precision and attention to detail. Woodcarver Christoph Rieser, one of our #LOCALHEROES, exhibits his unique carvings and gives an impression of his artistic work.

While the snow crunches under your shoes and the city center shines in festive splendor, you should listen very carefully Wednesday to Sunday at 8:00 p.m., when the lovely sounds of the Kitzbühel carillon resound. For more than 70 years, the carillon of St. Catherine's Church has filled the city center of Kitzbühel twice a day, and also during Advent, the carillonneur Rosmarie Sathrum will let the lovely sounds resound over the city.
Rosemarie Sathrum is also part of our #LOCALHEROES family. Playing the carillon in the gothic Katharinenkirche in the middle of Kitzbühel's city center is a favorite activity of Rosemarie. Already as an 11-year-old girl she was allowed to play there in public for the first time. For Rosemarie, the Turmstüberl in the bell tower is a place of peace and quiet - as if made for the contemplative pre-Christmas season.
For the festive opening of the Kitzbühel Christmas Market on November 23, 2022, the Gamsstadt presents itself in a glittering sea of lights and offers both a sophisticated and festive program. Already at the start of the contemplative pre-Christmas period, you will get a foretaste of the winter fairy tale in Kitzbühel this Wednesday. Enjoy the scent and taste of Christmas at the numerous gastronomic stands and let us put you in a festive mood. Thanks to the musical accompaniment by traditional Tyrolean music groups, the anticipation of Christmas will be even more palpable.

The Wiltener Sängerknaben from Innsbruck is one of the most traditional and oldest boys' choirs in Europe and one of the best of its kind in the world. Their history goes back to the 13th century. Today the choir consists of about 60 boys and young men's voices. The artistic direction has been in the hands of Prof. Johannes Stecher since 1991.
As a Tyrolean choir, the Wiltener Sängerknaben are committed to the tradition of authentic folk songs. And so yodels and folk songs from the Alpine region, as well as sacred folk songs - especially at Advent and Christmas time - are frequently found in the choir programs.
Concert of the Wiltener Sängerknaben on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. in the Vorderstadt.
The big St. Nicholas procession is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Advent program in Kitzbühel. Together with his Christmas angels, St. Nicholas, with his long white beard, bishop's miter and crozier, makes his entrance into the Gamsstadt and has a small gift for each child in his sack. Of course, the little ones can also take a picture with St. Nicholas and check his bishop's book to see if they have been good throughout the year.
This very special atmosphere is accompanied by musical performances and the alleys shining in Christmas splendor are reflected in the enthusiastic children's eyes.
St. Nicholas procession on December 6, 2022 at 5:00 pm in the Hinterstadt.
The Kitzbühel Advent Market also has plenty of fun and games in store for the little ones. From children's readings with the Christmas story of Gerli the chamois to pony rides and petting zoo to painting workshops and a historic carousel, no child's wish remains unfulfilled here. While parents can enjoy a glass of mulled wine and pre-Christmas delicacies in an atmospheric setting, boys and girls can immerse themselves in an enchanted winter wonderland.
More detailed information about the children's program will follow.
