Kitzbühel is known far beyond its borders as a destination with tradition and extraordinary charm. During the Christmas season, Kitzbühel is transformed into a magical place where the winter fairy tale comes true against the picturesque backdrop of Kitzbühel's colorful and decorated house facades. From Wednesday, November 22 to Tuesday, December 26, the Advent market in the Hinterstadt as well as in the Stadtpark is open every Wednesday to Sunday from 2.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m, on December 24 from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m and on December 25 as well as on December 26 from 2.00 to 8.00 p.m. Enjoy the Christmas season in Tyrol and nd let yourself be enchanted.
The scent of hot chestnuts and fruit punch is in the air. Childhood memories are awakened at the traditional Kitzbühel Advent. Regional delicacies and traditional handicrafts can be found at numerous lovingly decorated stalls. Mulled wine is drunk from specially designed Advent cups, while performances by local choirs and music groups provide an atmospheric setting. Storytellers and the nativity scene exhibition bring the joy of Christmas closer. There are also plenty activities for kids. Children can shorten the wait for Christmas Eve by painting christmas stars, riding the carousel, watching the St. Nicholas parade on December 6, or visiting the magical Christkindl (Christ child) post office.

From November 22 to December 26, 2023, a Christmas magic fills the historic city center at the annual Advent Market. Wednesday to Sunday, always from 2.00 to 8.00 p.m., festively decorated stalls invite visitors to stroll and linger. Live music from local groups creates a contemplative mood. Those who want to warm themselves from the inside will find something at the numerous mulled wine stands, which offer the ever-popular classics as well as specialties such as mulled Uhudler. Of course, hungry people are also catered for - from doughnuts to crêpes and Tyrolean delicacies, there is something for every taste.
Pre-Christmas readings and traditional performances of round off the varied program. Let yourself be enchanted and get in the mood for the upcoming festivities together with us.
Traditional Christmas tunes and native sounds, which awaken memories, invite you to let the year end contemplatively. Through the musical background and the atmospheric mood, you can immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas past from childhood days and feel the glow of lights in your heart. The concerts of the Wiltener Sängerknaben are a musical highlight.
At the Kitzbühel Advent Market - one of the most tradition-rich Christmas markets in Tyrol - you can look forward to live music every day, with festive sounds awaiting you both in the 750-year-old town center and in the town park.
The most beautiful anticipation of Christmas for children is certainly writing the wish list to the Christ Child with all the gifts that you would like to unwrap under the tree on Christmas Eve. What could be more magical than writing and sending the wish list directly at the Advent market? Direct delivery to the Christ Child is virtually guaranteed in this festive environment.
Like every year, this year the popular Christkindlpost from Kitzbühel Tourism will take place again. Our Kitzbühel Christkindlpost is located by the carriage in the courtyard of the district administration building. The children drop their own message to the Christ Child in the mailbox and Kitzbühel Tourism forwards it directly to the Christ Child.
When evening falls and the city center shines in a festive glow of lights, get enchanted by the magical sounds of the Kitzbühel carillon - every Wednesday to Sunday at 8.00 p.m.. For more than 70 years, the carillon of St. Catherine's Church has been illuminating Kitzbühel's city center twice a day and also during Advent, carillonneur Rosmarie Sathrum will let the lovely melody resound over the city. For Rosemarie, the Turmstüberl in the bell tower is a place of peace and quiet - perfect for the reflective pre-Christmas season.
Social and service clubs take operate the Advent Market hut alternately, with a special focus on social responsibility, incusion and sustainability. The goal is to raise funds and support people with Handicaps. In the midst of the festively decorated downtown, the huts open their doors every weekend to welcome visitors from near and far. This special place serves not only as a meeting place for fellowship and enjoyment, but also as a platform to do good.
Soak up Kitzbühel's magical pre-Christmas atmosphere as thousands of Christmas baubles glitter and glow at the foot of the Hahnenkamm. Hundreds of red baubles and thousands of lights create a festive atmosphere and get you in the mood for Christmas. Open fires crackle in the cosy lobby Stube, and on weekends the carolers and bagpipers perform their songs. The Christmas market offers mulled wine, punch, chestnuts and Christmas treats. Children can enjoy the gentle petting zoo.
Let yourself be enchanted by the traditional and cozy atmosphere and enjoy the diverse program items. A nativity scene exhibition will take you into the world of the Christmas story. During a reading of dialect poems you can immerse yourself in the world of regional poetry. Another highlight are the Anklöpfler, who create a cheerful atmosphere with their traditional sounds. The folk music accompaniment makes the Farmhouse Museum shake and invites you to sing and clap along. Of course, delicious traditional food will also be provided. Taste the delicious Gerstlsuppe and fragrant Klotzenbrot while you feel the anticipation of Christmas. Admission to this atmospheric event is free.

The Wiltener Sängerknaben from Innsbruck is one of the most traditional and oldest boys' choirs in Europe and one of the best of its kind in the world. Their history goes back to the 13th century. Today the choir consists of about 60 boys and young men's voices. The artistic direction has been in the hands of Prof. Johannes Stecher since 1991.
As a Tyrolean choir, the Wiltener Sängerknaben are committed to the tradition of authentic folk songs. And so yodels and folk songs from the Alpine region, as well as sacred folk songs - especially at Advent and Christmas time - are frequently found in the choir programs.

The Kitzbühel Advent Market also has plenty of fun and games in store for the little ones. From children's readings with the Christmas story to a historic carousel, all child's wishes can be fulfilled here. While parents can enjoy a glass of mulled wine and pre-Christmas delicacies in an atmospheric setting, boys and girls can immerse themselves in an enchanted winter wonderland. In addition to a colourful Advent programme, there are two Christmas markets in Reith this year that invite you to feast and browse. On Wednesday, 06 December, the village shop Dorfladen in Reith invites you to enjoy hearty delicacies and sweet surprises in from 5.00 p.m. Chestnuts, mulled wine and other Christmas treats will set the mood for the festivities. At 6.00 p.m., St. Nicholas will enter the village together with the brass band.
The Christmas market at Münichau Castle is already a tradition. This year again, a varied programme for Sunday, 17 December from 12.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m is planned. Visitors will find a variety of stalls offering everything from Christmas delicacies to homemade products.
Another highlight is the walk-through Advent calendar. The route leads around the village, starting on 01 December at 5.00 p.m. at the village fountain.
The Advent season kicks off with the cot exhibition at the Aurach Elementary School on 02 December 2023 from 2.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. and the Christmas market at the Aurach Parish Church on 02 December from 3.30 p.m. A musical afternoon with new interpretations of well-known Christmas classics will also take place here on Friday, 08 December at 5.30 p.m.
An annual highlight is the romantic Advent evening in the Aurach Wildlife Park on Sunday, 10 December, 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.. Visitors can expect atmospheric music, a varied programme for children as well as sweet and savoury Christmas delicacies.
The Jochberger Bergadvent begins on Saturday, 25 November with the Markt'l pre-Christmas market from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. at Cafe Amt'l, which also attracts visitors on the following Saturday, 2 December with homemade products from the region and delicious mulled wine.
Other highlights include the Advent Get-Together in the Jochberg Pfarrhof on Saturday, 02 December at 2.00 p.m. followed by the consecration of the Advent wreath in the parish church 4:00 p.m. as well as the St. Nicholas reception on 6 December in the music pavilion and the Christkindlmarkt Jochberg ton 8 December at 4:00 p.m. as the Advent concert of the Jochberg rural youth on Sunday, 09 December at 6.00 p.m. We also warmly recommend the Jochberger Dorf-Roas - a walk to the Jochberg Mountain Advent with storyteller Maria including a children's programme. The walk takes place on Sunday, 17 December at 2.00 p.m. and the meeting place is at the Copper Mine "Kupferplatte".
The Gamsstadt in the middle of the Kitzbühel mountains is characterized by its perfect location and easy accessibility. Whether you arrive by train or by car - enjoy the mountain world relaxed and carefree.
There are numerous, free and paid, parking lots in and around Kitzbühel, from which you can reach the historic city center on foot. The parking lots P1 and P4 are also designed for buses.
If you arrive by train, it is best to get off at the station "Zentrum - Hahnenkamm". From there you are in a few minutes walk directly in the heart of the Advent Market.
