There is a lot to offer in the neighboring villages of Reith, Aurach or Jochberg - the farmhouse museum, wildlife park Aurach or Drachensteig at the Sintersbacher waterfall are only a stone's throw away from Kitzbühel.

There is also a lot to discover in the surrounding regions. Be it a visit to a schnapps distillery, a gorge hike or a tour to Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner. Are you more of a city trip, e.g. to the fortress town of Kufstein or our state capital Innsbruck, or do you prefer a quiet day fishing in the pond? There is all sorts of things to find for each of our guests.

Day trips are easy and uncomplicated in all directions. Be it by train (ÖBB Einfach-Raus-Ticket), the regional bus network (VVT), by bike or e-bike on the cycle paths or with your own car.

Pools & Lakes

When summer shows its best side, there are many opportunities around Kitzbühel for refreshing moments while swimming, hiking, biking or walking around the city. In the valley, it is especially the moor lakes, such as the Schwarzsee and the Gieringer Weiher, which provide cooling. A clear recommendation for families is the Jochberg forest swimming pool, to have fun in the cool water on sunny days. The mountain and reservoir lakes are ideal to cool your feet after a long hike.

Mountain adventures

Where in winter the hustle and bustle of the ski resorts prevails, in summer people explore, play and investigate. The numerous adventure worlds at the mountain stations in the Kitzbühel region and surrounding area invite children and young people to discover nature through play. The mountain adventure worlds, which are similar to a leisure park, not only guarantee impressive views of the Tyrolean Alps, but also numerous exciting adventures. 

It all started over ten years ago with the Hexenwasser in Hochsöll on the Hohe Salve. There, Austria's longest barefoot trail leads to 60 adventure stations. In Kitzbühel, the Streif summer experience directly on the Hahnenkamm with nine action stations awaits young adventurers.

From the Sintesbach Waterfalls to the Hohe Tauern National Park  and the Umbal Falls - there are numerous natural gems to explore from Kitzbühel. These places are true power spots where you can come to rest and recharge your batteries. The imposing natural spectacles show the full splendor of the region and amaze young and old alike. Here, nature can be experienced up close and personal with all the senses.

Panorama road

Countless serpentines, narrow natural stone tunnels and fantastic views of the mountain world: On Tyrol's high alpine roads, the country shows itself from a completely different perspective. Some of them lead to an altitude of well over 2,000 meters above sea level, and on them you can discover the beautiful high alpine landscapes.

The panoramic road to the Kitzbüheler Horn leads in 7.5 kilometers from Kitzbühel to the inviting Alpenhaus inn. Along the way, there are always great views of the peaks of the Kitzbühel Alps. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road leads with 36 hairpin bends deep into the center of Austria's largest national park.

Culture & Museums

In addition to summit experiences and alpine romance, the Kitzbühel region and the province of Tyrol have a lot more to offer - the numerous cultural attractions include, for example, the Swarowski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, the Golden Roof in the provincial capital Innsbruck or the 800-year-old Kufstein Fortress and the Renaissance jewel Tratzenberg Castle. History buffs will also get their money's worth - the open-air museum Tyrolean Farms takes visitors on a journey into the past. The attractions can all be reached within a day trip from Kitzbühel and promise variety and excitement.

Authentic Food Producers

Enjoyment has a very special significance in the Kitzbühel region - regional natural products such as cheese, schnapps and bacon, but also beer and wood are produced by hand in a long tradition. In the numerous show farms, visitors can look directly over the shoulders of the craftsmen and experience first-hand how production takes place - for example, in the Wilder Käser show dairy in Kirchdorf. In the farm stores of the region such as Unsere Kiste shop, you can get fresh products directly from the farmers. Fun for the whole family

The Aurach Game Park delights with its unique location with panoramic views of the Kitzbühel Alps and with its animal inhabitants: see red deer, fallow deer, mouflon in Tyrol's largest outdoor enclosure, as well as rock deer, lynx, yaks and many other animals. A highlight for children is the Streichlstadl: goats, donkeys, sheep, llamas, mini Shetland ponies, rabbits and guinea pigs live there.

Schwarzsee is one of the warmest and most beautiful bathing lakes in the Alps. The lake has made a name for itself not only because of its pleasant water temperature, but also because of the wonderful views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains with their peaks beyond 2,000 m that you can enjoy from the lakeshore. The outdoor pool at the lake has a 34,000 m² sunbathing lawn and boats can also be rented here.

Active course on the most legendary downhill run in the world

The Streif race course, probably the most challenging course in the Alpine Ski World Cup, captivates the skiing world every year. Over a length of 3,312 meters and 860 meters in altitude, the Streif is peppered with key sections that can now also be experienced playfully in summer. An eventful course along the Panorama Trail on the Hahnenkamm with nine active stations gives young fans an up-close look at the fascination of the Streif. Based on the key sections of the original race course, the stations require skill, endurance and balance.

Experience the magic of water

The force of the water can be felt along the Sintersbacher Graben. In about an hour you reach the imposing natural jewel - where the mountain water falls over 85 meters into the natural pools, before the route continues to the Jochberger Wildalm. Directly at the start of the hike to the Sintersbach waterfall is the playground with dragon walkway. Along the way there are also four boards describing the mysterious legend of the Sintersbacher waterfall.

Best views

Countless serpentines, narrow natural stone tunnels and dreamlike views of the mountain world: On Tyrol's high alpine roads, the country shows itself from a completely different, sublime perspective. North of Kitzbühel, the serpentine journey begins on the panoramic road up to the Alpenhaus inn on the Kitzbüheler Horn. The 7.5-kilometer route leads up to an altitude of 1,670 meters above sea level and offers an ever-widening view of the Kitzbühel Alps to the west as the altitude increases.

You can find out all this and much more in the modern 400 square meter showroom of the Tyrolean show dairy Wilder Käser: All about cheese in words and pictures! A look over the shoulders of cheese makers brings you closer to the craft behind the Tyrolean delights.

Sparkling world of experience

For its 100th anniversary in 1995, Swarovski had multimedia artist André Heller create the Crystal Worlds in Wattens, which have since become internationally famous. Since then, it has been impossible to imagine the Inn Valley without this extraordinary place of fantasy, art and playfulness. Around the mighty giant guarding the entrance to the Crystal Worlds stretches a 7.5-hectare garden landscape with numerous attractions.

Tyrol´s natural wonder

They are impressive, mystical and unique: the Krimmler Waterfalls in Salzburg´s Pinzgau region are an overwhelming experience with a total drop of 380 m over three cascades. Guests come from all over the world to marvel at the fifth largest waterfalls in the world. For many centuries, the waters of the Krimmler Ache poured down the slopes unnoticed; it was only the enthusiasm for the Alps that emerged in the 19th century that brought more and more tourists to the remote mountain region.

Discovery park of the Kitzbühel Alps

The Alpinolino adventure park is located between the Choralpe and the Talkaser at an altitude of 1,770 meters and invites young visitors to play, discover and simply have fun. At the various stations of the theme park, children learn through play and solve tricky puzzles. For example, at the flying fox or on the long jump course. There´s plenty to puzzle over on the Himmelsteig trail with its 14 stations and on the wooden worm trail that leads from the middle station to the valley station.
