Tramezzini & Sprudel

The tramezzino, a jewel of Italian snack culture, has a fascinating history. Sandwiches originated in London in 1762 and found their way to Italy. It wasn't until 1925 that Angela Demichelis Nebiolo in Turin created the tramezzino with pancarrè, a box-shaped bread. In Venice they became popular as "intramezzo" and accompanied sparkling wines. Alta Langa DOCG is an excellent sparkling wine from Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo, made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The terroir is over 250 meters above sea level and has calcareous soils. Founded in 1885, the Montanaro distillery, famous for Grappa di Barolo, is a leader in distillation. The combination of Tramezzino, Alta Langa and Montanaro is a feast for the senses in Italian gastronomy.
